Project Art kicks off on 30 April with German-born photographer Florian Kriechbaumer showcasing the award-winning Timeblend Dubai; a photo series capturing the day-to-night transition of Dubai’s iconic landscape. An initiative aimed at supporting the emirate’s burgeoning art community, aspiring photographers and visitors can interact and engage with Kriechbaumer to learn about his methods. “My workshops will help widen skills of anyone with basic knowledge and understanding of photography. The goal is to inspire people to try new compositions and hone techniques for capturing unique images,” explains Kriechbaumer.
Project Art supports His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s mission to enrich the UAE’s artistic landscape and to continue to work towards Dubai’s status as a “global capital for creative economy.” The results of Sheikh Mohammed’s ongoing mission are apparent, according to Kriechbaumer. ““It’s been incredible what has happened in the art scene in Dubai compared to when I first came to the country in 2004, when there were very few cultural and art events,” he says. “The dedication of the leadership to encourage and support artists has opened up a lot of opportunities, with whole districts focused on creativity.”
