To mark the beginning of spring, and to celebrate the Iranian New Year, people from all over the world have gathered to cheer-in the equinox with a very heartfelt ‘Happy Norooz!’ A staggering 300 million people from all religions across the globe celebrate the Persian New Year and the beautiful 12-day festival began over the weekend.

The bright blooms captivate us, alongside dazzling fireworks and costumes, as onlookers participate in sun-themed celebrations across the world. The ancient celebration unites Iranians and, with traditions such as painting eggs, jumping over bonfire flames and eating Sabzi Polo Mahi (whitefish and rice mixed with green herbs), the nature-inspired New Year is fresh and graceful.

From First Lady Michelle Obama’s special event at the White House to festivals in Uzbekistan, it’s a touching celebration that showcases the coming of spring and the welcoming of new life, and newer things to come.
