Prada’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection reveals painterly prints and energetic hues of celeste blue, tangy orange and honey yellow in a creative campaign captured by renowned photographer David Sims.

Photographed in London with styling by Olivier Rizzo, Sims’ striking black and white images of model Freja Beha Erichsen in classic Prada silhouettes and accessories serve as a monochrome canvass which is later enhanced with an alternative form of art. Blurring reality with digital artistry, hand-painted watercolours created in New York were applied over the photographs to create an abstract explosion of vibrant colour.

Blending traditional photography with the imperfection of handcraft expression, the campaign explores the balance between technology and humanity, and is reflective of the society we experience today. The joy of colour is expressed in a tech-savvy way, while the ‘paint by numbers’ style draws us in with it’s simplistic nostalgia.

Painted in bursts of Prada blue, pink and green which adorn blouses, patterned dresses, polo necks and printed co-ords, Freja Beha Erichsen becomes the star of a surrealist painting that focuses on the fantasy of fashion and offers a welcomed route of escapism.
