The brand has always had a masculine, minimal appeal
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twin sisters behind The Row are expanding their collection to include menswear.
The premiere menswear collection will arrive in stores in October, but apparently it has been in the works for years. “We did one menswear capsule collection many years ago, and in 2016 launched a retail menswear capsule,” Ashley Olsen said in a statement. “It was imperative that we received our customers’ feedback and to approach this collection thoughtfully at our pace.”
According to the duo, the collection will focus on classic suiting, which will be made to order in Japan with traditional European hand-stitched techniques. In addition to the tailoring pieces there will be a small selection of coats, shirts and knitwear pieces.
In a sense, menswear has always been part of The Row's biological makeup as the designers named the brand after Savile Row, a famous street in London, which is known for its traditional bespoke tailoring for men.
