What To Watch
This month, cinemas in the region offer an exploration of female narratives with two compelling films. Angelina Jolie embodies the iconic Maria Callas in Maria, a psychological drama delving into the life of the legendary opera singer. The film's accolades, including nominations for Best Picture at the 2024 Venice Film Festival and Best Cinematography at the 2025 Academy Awards, underscore its artistic merit. On the other hand, All We Imagine As Light made history as the first Indian feature in three decades to compete at Cannes, where it took home the Grand Prix. This story follows a Mumbai nurse whose life is transformed by an unexpected gift. Both films offer intimate glimpses into the complexities of womanhood and are screening in Dubai. Maria is screening at Vox Cinemas while All We Imagine As Light will be screening at Cinema Akil until 27 February.
