Behind each artwork lies a world of rich cultural history worth exploring

The 2025 Islamic Arts Biennale, titled And All That Is In Between (Wama Bainahuma) shines light on the expansive world of Islamic art and the several influences that have shaped it throughout the centuries. With Saudi Arabia, and the GCC as a whole, witnessing significant growth in the art and culture sector, it becomes crucial that these efforts are understood and utilised for the benefit of not only the art enthusiasts of the region but also the general public. Sotheby’s, which also recently held its first auction in Saudi Arabia, shows its support of the initiative by partnering with the Public Programs of the Biennale’s 2025 edition with a special series titled The World of Islamic Art from 6 April to 15 May.

The series comprises different sessions conducted by Sotheby’s specialists offering accessible introductions to the subject of Islamic art. For those interested in researching or knowing more about everything from Islamic textiles to crafts, this presents the perfect opportunity to ask questions and acquire knowledge from experts in the field. Attendees will be able to explore the Biennale alongside Sotheby’s speakers for a guided tour that enables deeper understanding of the many facets of the bi-annual art event.

Workshops in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain are also being conducted at the Biennale, giving participants a chance to meet master artisans and experience crafts like mother-of-pearl inlay and wood mosaic. The workshops allow attendees to have a hands-on experience that encourages a holistic understanding of Islamic art, including the work and meaning behind each piece. Explore The Programme
