In honour of Earth Day 2020, Burberry has launched the ReBurberry Edit — a selection of 26 styles made from sustainable materials.
The eco-conscious edit features pieces from the British brand’s spring/summer 2020 collection; including the signature Burberry trench, capes, parkas and accessories which have been reinvented using the latest innovations in sustainable material science.
The a recycled nylon, Econyl — made from regenerated fishing nets, fabric scraps and industrial plastic — has been used to create trench coats, while additional outwear has been crafted using a new nylon that has been developed from renewable resources such as castor oil, and a polyester yarn made from recycled plastic bottles.
Parkas and capes are also made at facilities that reduce energy and water, use textile recycling and chemical management programmes — with the brand considerin g all sustainable and responsible practices; from carbon emissions standards to social initiatives such as workers being paid the living wage.
As a part of the sustainable initiative, Burberry have also issued a global roll-out of pistachio-coloured labels that inform consumers of each garments credentials; listing the organic content, use of natural fibres and its delivery against carbon emissions standards at production facilities.
