Designed to mark the 20th anniversary of the Classic Balenciaga bag — which has adorned the arm of stars and supermodels for two decades — the Neo Classic offers an updated silhouette that is larger than its predecessor, with exposed edges in contemporary colourways that are sure to draw in a new generation of admirers.
First introduced on Balenciaga’s apocalyptic autumn/winter 2020 runway (where models walked through dark waters under a sky of ferocious fire and wild crashing waves), the fresh spin on a classic bag offered a bolt of colour to all-black ensembles, especially in tones of out-there neon orange and bold chili red.
While black, white and stone grey iterations were a cool palate cleanser for looks enriched in punchy shades of fuchsia and aqua — or, as an example, a pair of loud lime green boots that stretched over the knee.
Designed by artistic director Demna Gvasalia, the soon-to-be ‘It’ bag is finished in range of leather textures; from crocodile-embossed to spazzolato calf. Enhanced by tasseled zips, which mirror the unique codes of the house, the Neo Classic is destined to be your next 9-to-5 carrier or taken away on a spur of the moment staycation — after all, it’s roomy enough for your laptop, some silky pyjamas and a pair of strappy sandals ready for the beach. The definition of a chic carry-all.
