Period dramas with their glorious screenplays and dreamy costumes are taking prominent positions on the nominations list for the 2016 awards.
‘Carol’, set in the fascinating 50s, showcasing the powerful performances by a resplendent and glamorous Cate Blanchett and a reserved yet striking Rooney Mara, leads the way with five nominations for the motion picture, including acting, direction and background score.

Russell brought back his winning trio of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, in the soon-to-be-released drama ‘Joy’ for which the award season’s favourite actress has been nominated for her role of an entrepreneurial character that grows over the course of three generations.
Hollywood’s trouper Kate Winslet has landed her 11th Golden Globe nomination for the Danny Boyle’s ‘Steve Jobs’ playing the role of Joanna Hoffman, the right-hand woman to the charismatic but disturbed protagonist, played by Michael Fassbender who is also vying for Best Actor award.
The 73rd Annual Golden Globes will take place Jan. 10 in Los Angeles.
