For her ‘Born to be Wild’ collection, Valérie Messika called upon new heroines Kate Moss, Sylvia Hoeks and Joan Smalls, to break the codes of Parisian jewellery and take us on a journey through the Wild West.
First released in March 2019, the desert-inspired high jewellery is at the centre of a new campaign featuring the model muses and photography from Mert & Marcus.
“I wanted to create a trio of girls, a gang that would represent women in their diversity” says Valérie Messika. “Kate Moss has always been my muse, she is a Legend of fashion and a rock n’ roll icon.
“As for Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks, she seduced me with her personality and her character. Finally, I chose Joan Smalls for her spectacular physique. She gives off a very contemporary glamour.”
Drawn to the escapism of wild open spaces and vast landscapes, Valérie Messika integrated the power of nature within the collection. Diamonds are stacked like stones and totems; studded rings are doubled up and embellished earcuffs are left to dangle.
Kate Moss, Sylvia Hoeks and Joan Smalls insert a cool-girl attitude into the campaign, wearing pieces from the Desert Bloom sub collection which embody the persona of the pioneering women.
Moss wears a decorated pear cut choker with layered sautoir necklaces that frame the neckline and Hoeks is adorned in delicate tiers of fine chains and bracelets that can be worn at the top of the arm.
The ‘Born to be Wild’ jewels are available now and include sub collections: Black Hawk, Desert Bloom, Diamond Catcher, Snake Danse, Sparkling Arrow, Sun Tribe, Valley of Fire and Wild Moon.
