Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2019: Giambattista's Gen Z Army

Young silhouettes and Insta-worthy hues head up the collection

For Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2019, the designer concentrated on a play of length and colour. We're talking thigh skimming, figure hugging couture dresses followed by floor skimming frothy gowns. And in some cases, both. (Marshmallow white and candy floss pink in dramatic short-long structures).

These are pieces built for the rising army of wealthy Gen Zers (also known as Gen Techs), who have the income for couture — or the Instagram following — but not the patience for the ballgowns of yesteryear. Instead, they demand playful, colour inducing pieces with heady drops of photo worthy accents (puffy sleeves, light catching embellishment and skin flashing cuts).

It's a tough job, capturing 'that moment', but Giamba Valli nails it.
