From 24 October to 16 November 2024, the iconic Giza Pyramids will transform into an open-air gallery for the fourth edition of Forever Is Now, a contemporary art exhibition that invites artists from around the world to explore the wonders of an ancient civilisation through their unique practices. Set against the backdrop of this 4,500-year-old UNESCO World Heritage site, the exhibition offers a platform to reflect on the echoes of ancient rituals and the whispers of untold stories, tracing the continuity of themes from the past to the present.
Curated by Nadine Abdel Ghaffar, this year’s exhibition emphasises the transformative power of storytelling and the ever-evolving nature of our understanding of the world. Rooted in the universal human impulse to uncover and connect, Forever Is Now delves into the rich narratives concealed beneath the surface, inviting viewers to contemplate the inexhaustible quest for meaning amidst the arid expanses and shifting sands of the Giza Plateau.
This edition seeks to blur the lines between past and present, tradition and innovation, creating dynamic spaces where discovery is an active, participatory experience. Artists will engage with a variety of mediums - ranging from sculptures and installations to immersive digital experiences - dissecting the known and the unknown while revealing the narratives that shape our collective consciousness. Groundbreaking AI projects by Hassan Ragab and Daniah Al Saleh will further challenge traditional boundaries, bringing a contemporary twist to ancient themes through evocative video art.
Forever Is Now encourages a culture of interconnectivity and care, fostering cross-cultural exchange with local communities and enhancing engagement with diverse audiences, including craftspeople, students and labourers. By bridging gaps between artists and the public, the exhibition aims to provide new pathways for understanding contemporary art, making it accessible to all.
