Oct 10, 2024 | 2 min read

Frieze London has begun and will run from 9 to 13 October at The Regent’s Park

Kicking off today, 9 October and running through 13 October, Frieze London once again takes center stage at The Regent’s Park, reaffirming its status as one of the most influential contemporary art fairs in the world. Founded in 2003 by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, and now under the direction of Eva Langret, this year’s fair promises to highlight a rich mosaic of artistic expression with a focus on living artists and innovative practices.

The 2024 edition introduces a groundbreaking new floor plan designed by A Studio Between, which significantly enhances the visitor experience. This reconfigured layout not only streamlines navigation but also highlights the fair’s curated sections, such as Artist-to-Artist and the intriguing new themed area, Smoke. This thoughtful design aims to create deeper connections between artists and visitors, inviting exploration and dialogue.

Frieze London presents an extensive range of galleries representing both emerging talents and established icons. With guidance from a team of world-renowned independent curators, the fair showcases performance-based works and ambitious presentations from burgeoning galleries. This curated approach ensures that attendees engage with cutting-edge art that reflects the current zeitgeist while supporting living artists who are redefining the boundaries of contemporary practice.

Running concurrently with Frieze London, Frieze Masters offers a dialogue between historical and contemporary art. While Frieze London highlights works created primarily post-2000, Frieze Masters showcases pieces made before 2000, presenting a unique opportunity to explore the interplay between past and present. The proximity of the two fairs enriches the experience for visitors, allowing them to appreciate the evolution of artistic expression across different eras.

An essential highlight of this year’s festivities is Frieze Sculpture, featuring a free exhibition of significant outdoor works throughout The Regent’s Park’s English Gardens. Curated by Fatoş Üstek, this year’s sculpture display runs until 27 October, showcasing major installations by leading international artists. This outdoor setting not only complements the indoor exhibitions but also allows for a unique engagement with art in nature.

Frieze London continues to attract a diverse audience, with over 60,000 visitors expected throughout the fair's duration. From seasoned collectors and curators to casual art lovers, attendees gather to explore the cultural landscape and discover new artistic voices. Maintaining accessible ticket prices for the past four years, the fair invites a wide array of visitors to experience the dynamic world of contemporary art. Tickets are available exclusively online here.
