LUMAS Gallery, which opened earlier this month at City Walk, is changing the way Middle Eastern connoisseurs are buying art

The month of October saw the opening of LUMAS Gallery at the iconic City Walk, as part of the complex’s new extension. A new interior design concept called ‘The Collector’s Home’ showcases artworks, which are available for purchase, in mock-up living spaces, such as a living room, kitchen or study.

Founded in Germany in 2004, LUMAS has over 40 galleries throughout the world, and with its latest opening hopes to educate and encourage the UAE’s younger generation. Groundbreaking photographs using printing techniques and framing of the highest quality are on display, opening up the local art landscape to younger collectors and enthusiasts.

“The UAE has an incredibly diverse population with a keen interest in acquiring affordable and original photography and contemporary art.  The LUMAS concept, unique on its own, helps cultivate the next generation of collectors and enthusiasts by making art more approachable and accessible,” said Paul Marks, General Manager, LUMAS Middle East.

Each of the 2,000 original works have been expertly chosen and captivatingly produced, and will encourage younger connoisseurs who are able to walk away with unique limited edition, signed-by-the-artist pieces.

Artworks by some of the world’s most recognized artists will be rotated on a regular basis, along with special exhibits that will focus on single artists or specific themes. Timeless pieces by Damien Hirst, Werner Pawlok and Peter Funch are currently on display.
