The Dubai Collection has recently launched its first exhibition at the Etihad Museum, so get down to Jumeirah for your cultural fix
Launched as a cultural love letter to Dubai, The Dubai Collection - the first institutional art collection in the city - has launched its first exhibition at Jumeriah’s Etihad Museum, and it spectacularly features artworks from the collection of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. A celebration of 20th century Arab art, When Images Speak: Highlights from the Dubai Collection runs until 6 May 2022, telling the story of Arab modernism and its progression into contemporary art, all while highlighting the Gulf’s role in the documenting of art history as it was being written.
The presentation has been expertly curated by art historian Dr Nada Shabout, unfolding across three chapters with the artworks acting as archival records of their time. Expect works from the likes of Dia al-Azzawi, Omar El Nagdi, Baya Mahieddine, Naziha Selim, Asaad Arabi and many more. Open until 6 May 2022 at the Etihad Museum, Jumeirah, Dubai. Buy tickets
