This month, Virginie Viard’s first solo collection for Chanel will arrive in boutiques across the UAE
First revealed at the Grand Palais back in May, the Cruise 2020 collection showcased bow embellished blouses, ballerina slippers and miniskirt suits in neutral-toned tweed which steered toward a softer, more feminine direction for the Maison.
A platform for a great escape, the collection was presented on a runway which resembled a train station — complete with signs to some of Europe’s dreamiest destinations.
To signal the collection’s arrival in fashion boutiques, Chanel have released a short-film which brings the runway scene to life.
The travel-inspired film features models Caroline de Maigret, Soo Joo Park, Tami Williams, Ola Rudnicka and Amanda Sanchez passing through the Gare de Lyon in pocket-heavy jackets, doubled-up bags and emblem printed leggings made for a woman on the move.
From the fuchsia coloured coat to the hooded trench and the two-tone ankle boots, each look embodies the grace of a journey in a palette that moves from green to mauve.
Viand’s stamp —a hoop handle attached to an iconic quilt bag, an extra pocket for your passport or an unexpected dark floral print — is subtle, yet apparent in a collection that is finally arriving in boutiques.
