Chanel cruise heads to Bangkok for the collection's second runway show
The French house first presented its cruise19 collection in May at Paris' Grand Palais. Think 88 looks, each and every one perfect for the world's elite who take to the seas of the Mediterranean Sea each summer. Dazzling blue, precious pink and breton stripes hit the runway by the load. Classic Chanel tweeds made their appearance in reimagined two-piece sets with midriff baring designs. Beret's were focal while floral and sequin embellishment offered intricate high-notes scattered throughout the show.
The lavish show set-up featured a large ship, aptly named La Pausa, after Chanel’s summer house in the South of France. The runway will now be reimagined on October 31st 2018 in a new setting on the banks of Bangkok's Chao Phraya river, lifeblood of the city known as the Venice of the East. The cruise offering was traditionally destined for an intrepid clientèle traveling to warmer climes. And so, with its tropical climate and holiday character, Thailand makes for a perfect second stop.
"Chanel’s perpetual bridging of heritage and modernity is reflected in Bangkok, celebrated at once for its deep cultural roots and vibrant energy," read the press release. "Today a cosmopolitan city that seamlessly blends its dynamism with its tropical ease, Bangkok is the collection’s essential next port of call."
