The renowned Modanse double bill ballet graces the Dubai Opera stage once more, promising an evening of captivating dance, movement and haute couture. This one-night-only performance, dedicated to the legendary Gabrielle Chanel, will transport audiences through the life and passions of the iconic fashion icon.
The evening begins with Come Un Respiro (Like A Breath), a mesmerising performance choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti and featuring prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova. Set to the music of George Frideric Handel, this piece seamlessly blends Baroque elegance with contemporary aesthetics, captivating the audience with its grace and fluidity.
The second act, titled Gabrielle Chanel, takes center stage with Zakharova portraying the legendary designer herself. Choreographed by Yury Possokhov and set to the music of Ilya Demutsky, this act invites viewers on a journey through the 20th century, exploring Chanel's profound love for fashion and her enduring legacy.
Former Creative Director, Virginie Viard, designed over 85 bespoke costumes for the performance, emphasising Chanel's deep connection to dance but also serving as a testament to the timelessness of her designs. The Maison's strong connection also manifests in it's long-standing patronage of the Paris Opera.
