Dubai has seen a number of fashion brands enter the hospitality market with the arrival of the Armani Hotel Dubai, the Palazzo Versace, and the Bulgari Resort and Residences. Now, it’s set to see the entry of the first hotel by the Roberto Cavalli Group.

The fashion house has signed a deal with developer Damac Properties to open a hotel in Dubai, with a launch date of 2023. The hotel will be called Aykon, and Roberto Cavalli will be responsible for the interior design. “The word Aykon in Arabic stands for icon,” explained Niall McLoughlin, senior vice president of Damac.

Work on the five-star hotel tower that will comprise 220 rooms will begin in the first quarter of 2019 and will be located on the Dubai Marina development, overlooking the Palm Jumeirah.

Although Roberto Cavalli already has stores at the Mall of the Emirates and at Dubai Mall, the launch of the hotel will further boost Cavalli’s brand awareness in the region.
