MOJEH talks to Dana Jaber, co-founder of Kinzzi – the newest online go-to destination for homeware in the Middle East.

Have you ever wondered what some of your favourite female figures get up to each day? MOJEH’s A Day In The Life series follows some of the region’s most influential female movers and shakers, from business owners and entrepreneurs to fashion designers and art gallery owners. This week we’re talking to Dana Jaber, co-founder of Kinzzi – the newest online go-to destination for homeware in the Middle East.

I wake up at...

6.45am if I’m doing school drop-offs, otherwise I try to have a lie-in and stay in bed for guided meditation as it sets a nice tone for the day.

My morning routine normally consists of...

A sequence workout to clear my head and get my heart rate going, followed by a shower. I then have my morning acai bowl for breakfast. Once dressed and ready for the day, I start to tackle my influx of emails that come in overnight.

I'm responsible for...

With Kinzzi being a start-up, I wear many hats. My main areas of focus is marketing and PR, along with all creative concepts. I love that I get to be so creative, come up with ideas and work with really cool designers. I feel very lucky to be able to tap into the areas I love most such as interiors, art, fashion and jewellery.

My typical day...

Everyday is different and that’s one of the things that I love most about my job. Usually I start off at my desk at home and go though all my emails. I’m also in constant communication with our digital marketing team, social media manager and graphic designer.

We are currently organising a pop-up in Burj Park as part of the MOTB (Market Outside The Box) presented by DSF which is running until January 2nd, and it’s Kinzzi’s first event. I’m usually out of the door by 2:30pm so I can pick up my kids from school.

The typical Dana Jaber working wardrobe consists of…

I love comfort - it’s something that I’m favouring a lot more as I get older. I generally wear loose trousers with a wide leg. They are super comfortable but look great styled with just a classic cotton top. I look for comfortable footwear like trainers or flats…I can’t remember the last time I wore heels to work.

For lunch I eat...

I’m a vegan, and this has become quite common in recent times which is great.  I love fresh bowls and salad that are usually loaded with an abundance of vegetables. Sundried tomatoes and black olives are a must!

I also often eat falafel sandwiches, and if I’m home, I like to eat home cooked meals. I tend to favour dishes with rice and vegetable, stews or soups. My husband also tries to push turmeric and ginger vitamin C shots on me...I’m trying to get on board!

The Dana Jaber beauty look for the 9-5 looks like…

I tend to go makeup free most days. I do use The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid serum, which has been great for my skin. I also use the Korean beauty brand Erborian’s BB cream with SPF.

What I love most about my job is...

Working with a friend and doing something that I’m so passionate about. I’m so happy to kick the formalities of the corporate world and focus on what makes me truly happy. It just feels more real and more me.

And what I enjoy the least is...

Time zones – we work with many people from around the world so it’s always non-stop. We are also a start-up, so we’ve had many hiccups along the way. However it’s all very much a learning curve and something that helps us to improve.

When I get home I...

I usually check emails again but once I’m ready to shut everything off I love to relax on the sofa. I’m a Netflix junkie! I have just recently finished The Undoing, which was amazing. A few of my favorites for a laugh are Letdown, Family Business and Grace & Frankie. I also love period shows in historical settings such as the White Queen, Versailles and the Last Czar. Finally, I love documentaries such as Abstract, Minimalism and Explained.

I couldn't live without...

My phone – it’s horrible but true. I also couldn’t live without my friends and family.

When I feel stressed I...

Take a hot shower to clear my head and do some meditation/breathing exercises. I also love crossword puzzles, I find that they are really great to de-stress.

If I wasn’t in my current position, I would be…

Either a travel blogger or interior designer.
