When it comes to home interiors, designers have long been inspired by the bounty of nature. With Earth Day just around the corner, however, it’s the perfect excuse to see some of its most popular trends in a fresh new light. From green’s chameleon-like ability to transform a room’s atmosphere to fabulous floral prints that add a sprinkle of summer to any home décor, who says you can’t fight for the future of the planet while creating a beautiful home in the process?
Seeing Green

From deep jewel-toned emeralds that create a classic cosy atmosphere to calming mints and pistachio pastels that imbue a room with a sense of peacefulness, interior designers regularly praise the colour for its ability to work its magic in any space. “This spring, green offers a sophisticated way to introduce renewal and balance into our living spaces,” Rana Khadra, head of regional colour marketing at Jotun Paints Arabia tells MOJEH. “It is so inherently versatile and harmonises exceptionally well with natural materials — think wood, stone and woven textures. This allows for the creation of interiors that feel both grounded and inviting.”
Allow us to direct your attention to the retro appeal of a moss green tile on bathroom walls, for example, or how about chic sage green cabinets in the kitchen? Whatever you choose, green offers a new lease of life in any abode. “For those seeking a subtle yet impactful change, I often recommend exploring muted greens,” explains Rana. “Jotun 7386 Pistachio is a beautiful example — it provides a soft, refined aesthetic, ideal for spaces where a calming atmosphere is needed, such as bedrooms or studies. If you want to make a more pronounced statement, deeper, more saturated greens become a powerful tool.”
In Full Bloom

While florals have long taken pride of place in the world of high fashion, in interiors they have often been thought of as fusty and outdated, and something you might only find in your grandmother’s home. That’s all changing thanks to a wave of designers who are channelling the print in a more modern way, with bold colours, exaggerated petals and magnified 3-D blooms. “There’s something undeniably uplifting about florals in the home,” Kate Instone, founder and creative director of Dubai-based Blush International tells MOJEH. “As spring breathes new life into the world outside, interiors can also embrace this sense of renewal with delicate floral prints, bold botanical patterns and romantic chinoiserie designs.”
We’re seeing an uptick in appliqué and embroidered details as well, while wallpapers are planting their seeds with pretty botanical patterns that add depth to any room design. “In fact, in our design studio in Al Barari, our walls are adorned with contrasting floral wallpapers from De Gournay — a stunning mix of classic chinoiserie in silvers and neutrals alongside lilac wisteria,” adds Kate. A joyful refresh for any season.
Mother Nature

While we’ve all heard of colour drenching, how about stone drenching? An earthier trend that’s currently taking hold, industry insiders are increasingly incorporating chic grey and slate-like stoneware across the home, from sculptural stone side tables in a bedroom to a stand-out marble fireplace in a living room. “Marble and travertine are the kind of materials that instantly elevate a space — they add that timeless, natural beauty that just can’t be replicated,” says Claudia Baliyan, the design director and co-founder of Dubai-based studio Creating Homes. “I love using them in statement pieces like dining tables, coffee tables and feature walls, where the unique veining and texture really get their moment to shine.”
Known for their ability to create an inviting, grounded atmosphere that fosters a deeper connection with nature, these materials not only look good but they’re durable too, meaning any big investment will last for years to come. “Grey marbles are particularly popular due to their incredible depth and crystallisation that you just can’t fake — every slab is like a piece of art, formed over millions of years,” she adds. “The way they reflect light, the uniqueness of the veining — there’s a richness to them that makes a space feel luxurious and full of character.” A win-win all round.
