His fantastical paintings of anthropomorphic animals have become his trademark and this show brings his sense of fun to life in a new body of work centred around our “increasingly out-of-control situation.’
DON’T MISS: The melting cartoon faces in his paintings; this is pop surrealism at its best.

WHY GO: Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or a seasoned professional, get your camera ready for Ramadan in the streets of Old Dubai. Join Gulf Photo Plus on a walking tour of the city’s most charming neighbourhood rife with mosques, tiny alleyways and buzzing cafes as you stop for photo opportunities along the way.
DON’T MISS: Breaking your fast with the Old Dubai community; nothing brings people closer than a cup of piping hot chai.

A HARD DAY’S NIGHT
WHEN: 8 June – 2 September
WHERE: Alserkal Avenue
WHY GO: With June in full swing, there’s no better way to escape the heat than with a summer-long film series. Over the course of three months Dubai’s A4 Space will showcase films from around the globe exploring the themes of labour and technology as well as their imprints on the human condition.
DON’T MISS: The personal story of perilous grunt work in Aki Kaurusmäki’s The Match Factory Girl.
DUBAI SUMMER SURPRISES
WHEN: 22 June – 4 August
WHY GO: Nobody knows how to do a shopping festival quite like Dubai. The annual citywide summer celebration returns for its six week run, and will include discounts, super bargains and a myriad of on-going events for all the family.
DON’T MISS: The 12-hour sale on opening day! The shopping festival will kick off with a special sale that will run from 12pm to 12am on June 22, with discounts going from 25 up to 90 per cent.
ARTE THE MAKER’S MARKET
WHEN: 22 June
WHERE: Times Square Centre
WHY GO: Operating since 2005, Artisans of the Emirates is the UAE’s largest handmade designer, art, fashion and craft market for local vendors and craftsmen. Whether you’re looking for that missing tea set for your pottery collection or in the market for one-of-a-kind jewellery, this is a rummager’s paradise waiting to be explored.
DON’T MISS: Checking out all the local stalls. But watch out; with over 100 vendors, this will take some serious shopping navigation to get through.
