Al Quoz hotspot Matcha Club is bringing padel to the masses
Whether you're a gym bunny, part-time partaker or only do marathons of the Netflix variety, chances are you've heard Dubai's fitness fanatics buzzing about padel.
What is padel?
Landing somewhere in the middle of tennis and squash, padel is played using smooth fibreglass racquets and low-pressure tennis balls on a court roughly 25 per cent smaller than a traditional tennis court.
Is padel popular in Dubai?
Its popularity has skyrocketed among athletes and novices alike as it's played in doubles and requires no previous experience. While padel clubs have been sprouting up all over the city to meet demand, none are as Instagram-worthy as padel tennis club Matcha Club.
Matcha Club
Located in the oh-so-trendy Al Quoz, Matcha Club comprises six outdoor padel tennis courts, a studio wellness programme and French-Japanese restaurant Nette. Outside, the terracotta courts are punctuated with lush greenery and Al Quoz's signature stripped-back aesthetic, but venture into the restaurant and you'll be presented with sleek interiors, rattan accents and earthy tones perfect for unwinding after a competitive match. From the creators of Dubai eatery Cassette, Nette offers an extensive menu of good-for-you dishes and delicious beverages including, of course, a matcha latte.
