Alexander McQueen’s critically acclaimed autumn/winter 2009 collection “Horn of Plenty” would go on to change the face of fashion with the expert craftsmanship on dramatic couture gowns in an outrageously eerie setup. Yemeni born British photographer and the designer’s close friend Nick Waplington shares his intimate behind-the-scenes pictures showing McQueen hard at work at his atelier during the creation of the infamous collection.

The world’s most prolific fashion photographer brings his distinct oeuvre of portraiture, fashion and fine art to the Middle East for the first time in a collaboration with GINZA Fashion, curated by de Pury de Pury. We’re expecting Tastino’s notorious selection of portraits of the likes of his muse Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne that have previously been on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
“I am so excited that my work will be exhibited in the Middle East, in Dubai, for the first time. My endless curiosity has contributed to the diversity of my work, and this curiosity extends to the different cultures, people and places I have explored throughout my career. Looking at this exhibition I feel you see this and Dubai is a perfect place to present it with its constantly evolving creativity. I am eager to see and experience the impact that Dubai will make on my work” says Testino on his Middle Eastern venture.

Miyake Issey Exhibition: The Work of Miyake Issey

Highlighting 45 years of the Japanese designer’s boundary-pushing work in fashion exploring his “one piece of cloth” philosophy and his innovative use of fabric, the exhibition will display some of the revered designer’s most iconic garments ranging from Plastic Body, Rhythm Pleats, Pleats Please, A-POC to his more recent 132_5 concept.

Oscar de la Renta: The Retrospective

Curated by André Leon Talley, this retrospective celebrates the life and career of the iconic late American designer with over 130 pieces in display that have been produced over five decades ranging from his early Russian, Spanish and garden influences divided between ball gowns and red carpet dresses. “My goal is to highlight the extraordinary depth of Oscar’s creative aesthetic from his earliest designs for Jane Derby throughout the five decades of his remarkable career” says Talley.

Proust’s Muse

Where: The Museum at FIT, New York
Imagine 18th century artistocratic ballgowns designed by the likes of Worth, Babani, Fortuny, and Maison Soinard, adorned by an enchanting countess whose style will be celebrated for centuries. The exhibition focuses on the wardrobe of Élizabeth, Comtesse de Greffulhe, whose beauty and elegance was one of the main inspirations for Marcel Proust’s fictional character, the Duchesse de Guermantes from his novel À la recherché du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time).
