Exhibition Of The Month: Land Survey by Béchir Boussandel

Tabari Art Space’s February exhibition, Land Survey, makes for a culture-filled alternative to traditional Valentine’s Day dates

While we always love celebrating regional talent, we can’t wait to check out the latest solo exhibition from Franco-Tunisian visual artist Béchir Boussandel at Tabari Art Space. Inspired by nature and the destabilising notions of space and time, Boussandel’s artworks combine motifs absorbed from ornamentation and the miniature portrait to create vibrant works with exquisite attention to detail.

Land Survey is available for viewing until 27 February at Tabari Art Space

This time around he is constructing both fictional and utopian scenes throughout his exhibition Land Survey, paying tribute to different lands and territories with a cheery colour palette that’s pleasing to the eye. Think: desert plant life like palms and cacti that can flourish in harsh climatic conditions, as well as migrating birds and levitating fruit. Be sure to check it out this February exhibition before it’s too late. “For me, painting is comparable to a territory, my territory, where the layers of paint are like geological strata,” says Boussandel of his latest collection. “It’s a hymn to colour.” Land Survey will run from 1-27 February 2023 at Tabari Art Space, Gate Village Building 3, DIFC, Dubai.
