#HauteHangouts: Bleu Blanc, Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai

2 min read

Bursting with the warmth and charm of a quintessential French bistro, Bleu Blanc Oysters & Grill is set to whisk you away to Provence — where you can indulge in cuisine that is just as sublime as the surroundings. Bon appétit

Located in the Renaissance Downtown Hotel in Business Bay, Bleu Blanc is nestled in the heart of Dubai’s high-rise — but the ambience of the restaurant enables you to escape to an idyllic farmhouse in the South of France. Upon arrival you’ll be greeted with a classic bicycle perched beside washed-out blue doors that instantly take your mind to summers spent in the Mediterranean.

Inside, the interiors are homey but elegant with rustic floors, timber finishes and a wood-fired grill where carefully sourced meats, seafood and vegetables are sizzling for all to see. The furnishings carry a shabby-chic aesthetic: there are mismatched chairs in shades of teal, azure and white, an array of low-lit chandeliers, ornate vintage-esque mirrors and a curtain of wooden spoons hanging from the ceiling. Candlelit tables, instrumental music playing softly in the background and a terrace overlooking a glittering Dubai Canal after-dark, make this the perfect date night spot — although we’re told the Friday Brunch has a livelier mood.

The simply gorgeous surroundings set the bar high for the food, which does not disappoint. The menu features classic French dishes to ponder over; including succulent wood-fire-grilled meat cuts, the freshest flavours of the sea and of course, oysters. But if you want to dine Provence-style (when in France), let the faultless team take the helm and decide for you — adding to the culinary experience, you’ll be surprised by each dish that arrives at the table (with a perfect drinks pairing to match).

MOJEH recommends starting with a BBG caesar salad (it sounds simple, but the addition of grilled shrimps make this a sophisticated first bite), followed by the grilled octopus (with a basil pesto and exquisite red pepper aioli) and freshly baked bread on the side. For mains, opt for the perfectly cooked lamb rack and the superb wood roasted salmon, and if you love mac and cheese, the black truffle-infused side dish is a must. Finish the meal with a chocolate baked ganache or a vanilla pot de crème, topped with a salted caramel and raspberry crisp. C’est magnifique.
