Blessed with a beautiful coastline, lined with glitzy hotels and some seriously impressive architecture, Kuwait city is more than just an oasis amongst desert plains. With fine museums and a buzzing souk, it’s a modern metropolis laden with cultural attractions and a pumping culinary scene. You want italian? You want Japaense? The city boasts a smorgasbord of cuisines worth exploring, rivaling most Gulf countries when it comes to matters of the belly. Just don’t forget to try Machoboos, the star and most popular Kuwaiti dish in town. We tapped up and coming designer Bazza Alzouman for insider tips on where to go and what to do when it comes to her hometown city.

BEST BREAKFAST SPOTS
For a delicious breakfast I love Kuwaiti Chef Faisal Al Nashmi’s brasserie Table Otto. There’s also Cocoa Room for brunches and Arabica for the best coffee in town.

TOP THREE MUST-DOS WHILE IN TOWN
Definitely a visit to Souq Almubarakiya, one of the oldest souqs in Kuwait. Followed by a walk at Al Shaheed Park. It has beautiful botanical gardens, two museums – Thekra & the Habitat, as well as a lake. And finally I would recommend exploring the Abdullah Alsalem Cultural Center, a beautiful world class museum within Kuwait’s new national cultural district.

HIPPEST HOTEL
Where to stay when in town? That would have to be at the newly opened Four Seasons at Burj Alshaya.

HOTTEST TABLE IN TOWN
That’s a difficult one –  a tie for sure between Japanese tapas’ place Ora and another Japanese restaurant called White Robata.

WHERE TO SHOP
Luxury boutique Alothman which was established back in 1956 and The Avenues Mall who recently opened their 4th phase.
