NYFW: SS16 Trending Beauty

1 min read

Throughout every fashion season it’s consistently apparent that we will endure more fashion than we can digest. So it’s easy to overlook the beauty trends that walked the runway along with them. We’ve sifted through NYFW’s spring/summer 2016 runway shows to bring you the latest beauty trends of the moment.

Fresh Faced

1. DKNY | 2. Herve Leger | 3. Milly

Barefaced models graced the runways with what appeared to be minimal to no makeup. Alexander Wang, Hervé Leger and DKNY opted for this cleaner, more modern approach. Natural fresh skin was on full display, make-up was used to conceal flaws and to define features rather than to completely redesign the face.

Stroke of Colour

1. Giulietta | 2. Jenny Packham | 3. Ohne Titel | 4. Boss Woman

Unlike previous shows the makeup was more refined. Pared-back faces with delicate accents were noted. Designers like Ohne Titel, Jenny Packham and Giulietta thoughtfully placed strokes of colour to border the lash line providing a subtle pop of colour.

Bold Lips

1. Jason Wu | 2. Michael Costello | 3. Badgley Mischka | 4. Oscar de la Renta

Pucker-up in bold hues. The runway saw stamped on colour with Jason Wu’s velvet red lips and Michael Costello’s violet pout. Badgley Mischka showcased pretty pink shades and valentine captivated us with cherry dipped lips.

Dishevelled Hair

1. Creatures of the Wind | 2.Diesel Black Gold | 3. Michael Kors

This season is all about the ‘out of bed hair’ styles. Boss Women, Diesel Black Gold and Creatures of the Wind, have all bid farewell to the more polished updos of the past and welcomed in a relatively organic styling. The tousled hair effect evokes a certain ‘I don’t care’ attitude with added low maintenance practicality.

Hair Ornaments

1. 3.1 Phillip Lim | 2. Cushnie et Ochs | 3. Diane von Furstenberg | 4.Givenchy

There was no shortage of eye catching hair accessories this week. Be it a feminine flower clip from Diane Von Furstenberg, 3.1 Philip Lim’s bandage wrapped headband, or an all-out face bejewelling by Givenchy, we saw it all.
