Beauty Pick: Spring Floral Fragrances

Springtime seduces the senses with long walks in blooming flower gardens, the smell of freshly cut grass and sweet rose scents. Make sure you’re a vision of seasonal beauty with a floral fragrance that leaves a sensual trail of petals wherever you go.

The marriage of fresh flowers is a difficult fragrance to perfect; infusing a bouquet of awe-inspiring scents doesn’t always result in fresh elegance. It can become sickly sweet with a little too much vanilla essence and with not enough complimenting ingredients the top notes can overbear the subtle infusion at the heart of the fragrance – but when the mixture is just right, it’s irresistible. That’s what makes springtime beauty so exciting. So, with the season upon us we’ve taken the opportunity to try some of the finest floral fragrances, narrowing it down to eight opulent combinations that you simply can’t beat.

Cartier La Panthère and Chloé Love Story both capture a magical merging of flowers, sweet fruits and musk, with a result that’s full of personality and strength. Cartier uses rhubarb and strawberries to add subtle fruity undertones to the gardenia at the heart of the La Panthère fragrance, and Chloé combines orange blossom and stephanotis jasmine for a scent that retains the charismatic nature the brand is known for. There’s no need to test our next fragrance, close your eyes and imagine lying on a bed of roses basking in the spring sunshine, letting your fingers dance in the cool breeze as the day drifts by – that’s how you’ll spend every day with a spritz of Aerin Rose De Grasse – the fusion of centifolia and Bulgarian roses is a scent for true floral-fans. Don’t worry if you prefer your perfume a little more demure than daring, the Dolce & Gabbana Floral Drops delicately caresses your skin with a gentle mix of neroli leaf, papaya flower and white water lily – simply spill a drop onto your skin for sweet long-lasting aromas.

The most expensive fragrance in our edit is the Maison Francis Kurkdjian A La Rose Eau De Parfum, the tender, captivating scent enriched with precious rose, violet and magnolia blossom is hidden within the simple, understated bottle – a treasure worth the AED899 price tag. Surrounded by a pile of ever-growing perfume testing strips, we were refreshed with a burst of citrus undertones in Carven’s L’Eau De Toilette, lemon and oranges entwined peony for an unusual fragrance that challenges the romantic rose-trend – think nostalgic summer memories. Finally, Bottega Veneta Knot and Acqua Di Parma, Acqua Nobile Rosa Eau de Toilette both offer secret Italian escapes, Bottega reflecting the Italian Rivera decorated with mandarin, orange flower and peony and Acqua’s classic damask rose and blackcurrent mixture arising from quaint Piedmont gardens.
