Sometimes we can have a tendency to show ourselves a dose of self-loathe instead of self-love. Why not use this Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to explore some of Dubai’s best retreats and indulge in some self-care instead?
Heart & Soul Spa
Vibe: A relaxed out-of-town feel to this homely spa surrounded by greenery.
Treatment: Wholeness, purity, radiance. The three pillars of chemical-free spa therapy products and skincare line, Sodashi, and the words that sum up the Sodashi signature massage at Heart & Soul. Set in a peaceful, no-fuss treatment room (they had us at the fluffy dressing gowns and slippers) this is a deeply relaxing and refreshingly simple massage intended to improve circulation and balance the body’s energy. Beginning with deep breaths of three blends of pure essential oils, the massage begins at the neck and shoulders and the rest is a blur of soporific escapism. Therapist Rawi is a true expert, inducing both a relaxed state of mind and supple muscles by the end of the 90 minutes. Extend your break from reality for a few moments longer with crudités and ginger tea in the relaxation room while you plan your next visit.
Heart & Soul Spa, Al Barari, Dubai
Open 8.30am-10pm Saturday to Thursday, +971 (0)4 320 7350
Vibe: This French-Polynesian charm is the perfect fusion to escape from the daily grind.
Treatment: With very attentive therapists, this spa experience allows you to truly unwind. Surrounded by the tranquil sounds of trickling water, luscious greenery and wood structures, for a miraculous moment you live the city behind you. Opting for the 90-minute Empress Original Beauty facial (it also includes a neck and shoulder massage) it starts with a gentle cleanse of the face. Using Thémaé (organic) products – formulated by four types of tea from around the world: black, green, white and rooibos – there is no pungent aromas, only a delicate smell that’s not overwhelming. A steamer device is used to open your pores before a detox mask, followed by a collagen mask, are applied. This anti-ageing treatment should stimulate your circulation. The kneading massage, using Vietnamese and Thai tools, is a strange sensation but also very calming. After being indulged with multiple creams and masks, you leave with your face feeling fresh, plump and glowing.
Note: If you’re a contact lense wearer bring a spare pair as you must remove them for the treatment.

Posh by Feryal
Vibe: Glitz, glamour and a pampering session from start to finish.
Treatment: Arriving 30 minutes early wasn’t an issue for the staff at Posh by Feryal. Relaxing in a reclining chair, the therapist tried to sooth my hair back to its natural best. Using Rahua hair products – working with a tribe, all ingredients are sourced from the Amazon Rainforest and then produced in New York City. What’s the best part? They’re free from harmful chemicals and completely organic. After applying several masks from root to tip, it left my hair feeling nourished, smooth and soft to the touch. Blow dried with a bounce, I left with the feeling of having adopted new hair for the evening.
