With Grace Jones, Helen Mirren and The Beatles among his star-studded roster of clients, Trevor Sorbie has quite a reputation. Over the years (50 - to be exact) he’s cemented himself as one of Britain’s most renowned hairdressers and revolutionary stylists and now, thankfully, he’s bringing his expertise and signature cuts to the Dubai Mall.
Responsible for creating some of the most defining looks of the 20th and 21st century, including the ‘scrunch’ and the ‘wedge’, the creative is excited to be opening a landmark salon here in the Middle East. “We are absolutely thrilled,” he says about the opening, and it’s easy to understand why. After leaving school aged just 15-years-old, and with no qualifications under his belt, Trevor was recruited into the family business – his father’s modest two-seat barber shop.
Today, his hailed as one of the world’s most exceptional and decorated hair stylists. A perfectionist and passionate educator, each team member are accomplished and hand-picked to relocate from the UK, having already undergone an intensive training programme called ‘Vardering’, which ends with a test judged by Trevor himself.
But why Dubai? “We understand that Dubai is a cosmopolitan city full of people wanting to look their best and with that in mind, we have selected some of our most talented hairdressers, or artists as we like to call them, to show Dubai why my salons are the destination for great hair, not just in the UK but all over the world.” And with future expansion sites planned for Asia and the US, in addition to those already confirmed in Dubai and the UK, MOJEH doubts this will be the last we hear of Trevor Sorbie.
