Fashion month supplies us with plenty of beauty inspiration for the upcoming season and here, MOJEH highlights the Milan hair and makeup looks that are simultaneously inspirational and wearable for life off the runway.

Keep It Clean

The clean girl aesthetic has officially evolved from a TikTok trend to runway staple; AW24 was all about barefaced beauty. Moisturised, healthy-looking skin dominated the runways at Del Core, Prada and Ferragamo, complementing rather than overwhelming the collections. Be on the lookout for ultra-hydrating ingredients in your skincare - especially hyaluronic acid, glycerin, lactic acid and ceramides - to master the dew.

Grunge Goddess

Introducing grown-up grunge, the refined approach to smoked-out shadows and vampy lips. Grunge may be about rock and roll but it is also about expression, which Moschino's makeup artist Inge Grognard captured with razor-sharp winged liner in a striking red hue. Taking a more traditional stance were Tom Ford, who opted for a simple smokey eye, and Gucci with kohl-rimmed eyes. Rather relive your youth? Make like Blumarine, which threw caution to the wind with smudged liner and roughly applied lipstick.

Wet, Wet, Wet

Once upon a time, leaving the house with wet hair would garner cries from our mothers about catching pneumonia or (worse?) facilitating frizz. Obviously Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara and Jil Sander had no such childhood, as they sent models down the runways with various iterations of wet-look hair, from positively drenched at the latter to neatly slicked back at the former.

Chop Chop

For those that haven't yet taken the plunge with a new-year cut, let the autumn/winter runways be your inspiration. Max Mara kept it neat with a slicked-back, cheekbone-grazing bob that means business, while Elisabetta Franchi took a laid-back approach with tousled waves.

Polished Pout

Though rather unusual for the winter runways, makeup artists seemed to favour bare lips this season. The key to achieving a perfect pout is all in the preparation - invest in a lip scrub to slough away dead skin and slather on a hard-working balm before bed to wake up to pillowy lips.

In A Pinch

Rouge, pink or peach, the popularity of blush has skyrocketed thanks to Generation Z (in part due to Selina Gomez, whose Rare Beauty liquid blush was quite literally a sell-out success). Rather than the powdered blush of Millennial nightmares, new-generation formulas are predominantly creamy, dewy products with a second-skin finish. Apply liberally, not forgetting the bridge of the nose for a sun-kissed look that will be much needed come wintertime.
