Beauty brand M.A.C finally releases Aaliyah tribute collection
M.A.C has had fans waiting with baited breath for their latest tribute collection. The cult beauty brand announced last August that they would be launching a M.A.C x Aaliyah collection, which they followed with a teaser in April on their Instagram featuring the highly-anticipated line alongside 2 release dates. Well fans can rejoice, the wait is finally over. The 90s-glam collection officially dropped online today and will be available tomorrow June 21 in stores. Aaliyah, reportedly a fan of M.A.C’s Chestnut lipliner, Chelsea lipstick and eyeshadow in the shade Espresso, will have her love for earthy shades honoured in the tribute collection.
“Aaliyah is truly one in a million—an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all,” M.A.C wrote on their Instagram. “Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M·A·C Aaliyah collection. You made it happen!” Aaliyah supporters, alongside Missy Elliot, Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton and her make-up artist Eric Fell, were the main reason the collection came together after a petition for a tribute line to the late ’90s R&B star came to life last year. The collection comes hot off the heels of the brand’s collaboration with the late singer Selena Quintanilla in 2017, which sold out so fast that M.A.C had to bring the range back last December just to meet the fans’ demand.
