This season’s hottest nail trend is inspired by sparkly rubber sandals
Reminiscent of everyone’s favourite jelly sandals from the ‘90s, the slightly see-through, vibrant nail look has been popping up on Instagram recently in a variety of shapes, colours, and finishes.
The trend, which is also known as glass nails thanks to their transparency, first gained traction when Kylie Jenner and her friends posted a nail selfie on Instagram. Two of the girls had purple nails, and the third showed off neon pink clear nails with a Nike swoosh on the pinky nail.
So how do you get the look? “Jelly nails are made by translucent coloured acrylic being sculpted onto your nail. You place a foil under the nail and we apply the acrylic on top to the shape and length you want,” explained London based WAH Nails’ senior nail technician Holli Anna. She also added you can mix glitters or encapsulate sequins in the colour. “It’s really fun, Instagram-friendly, and the light shines through like crazy,” making it all the better for summer.
