When one thinks of the Caesars Palace brand, relaxation might not immediately come to mind. However hidden amongst the fine dining restaurants and afternoon pool parties at Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai is Qua Spa - an award-winning wellness concept that fuses Western wellness practices with Japanese technologies, up there with all of Dubai’s equally indulgent tranquil hideaways.

A Las Vegas import, Qua Spa offers a menu full of unique treatments including the Lyashi Dome, which was the integral focus of our visit. Part of the Detox Dome treatment, we found ourselves enclosed inside a heated dome for 45-minutes, said to burn up to 600 calories per session and is inspired by the old Japanese practice “Suna Ryoho”, where people bury themselves in the sand near certain natural hot springs. This therapy is said to eliminate toxic buildup through sweat and the dome was created to simulate this same effect, independent of location.

Once the sweat session is complete, we are asked to shower before a gentle scrub with Himalayan salts to remove old dead skin cells, followed by a relaxing thermal clay mask which is left to work its magic on our dehydrated skin. Finally, a 50-minute full-body massage sends us into 100 per cent relaxation mode, with our therapist checking regularly we were happy with the pressure. Which we were – very much so.

Post-treatment, guests are left to their own devices to explore all else that Qua Spa has to offer, which includes an aroma steam, rock sauna, experience shower and ice fountain.

Whilst not unexpected, we were pleasantly surprised how silky smooth our skin felt as we left to enter the real world, and if one thing’s for certain, we’ll be back as soon as we can.
