Despite the Coronavirus causing severe disruptions to the tail end of Milan Fashion Week, Italy still managed to push out some of the most beautiful hair and make-up trends of the season. As per with the Italian fashion capital, glamour reigned supreme - whether it was a crimson lip accompanying a natural complexion, experimental braids, or blunt bobs. The Milan Fashion Week beauty looks were defined and full of intent.

Kaia Gerber and co worked blunt bobs with the top section swept backwards in a 90s fashion. “I’ve taken out all the layers, so it’s really like one length or hair -it’s quite severe,” Guido Palau said backstage. He was inspired by the idea of super blunt “computer generated” hair, and added extensions to give the hair extra weight.
There were red lips of every kind on the Milan runways - Fendi favoured plum while Jil Sander teamed pared-back complexions with intensely crimson lips. Here, hair was sleek, tight and parted to the side so that the make-up was as impactful as possible. As powerful as it is colourful, there is a red lip for every mood and every occasion.
Alberta Ferretti gave new meaning to the term and idea of a low pony for autumn/winter 2020, giving it a sleek and shiny new upgrade. Volume, structure and some welcomed texture were added with the addition of 1920’s finger waves.
