If you’re anything like us, staying on track with your workout routine and health and fitness goals can be a bit of a struggle – particularly as the events and festive season gets underway! However help is at hand as an increasing number of fitness apps continue to hit the market. We’ve rounded up five of the most popular apps that are designed to help you monitor and achieve your fitness goals.

C25K

C25K (Couch to 5 kilometers) is a running program formulated to get users running five kilometers in eight weeks through three weekly workout sessions. This app is great for people at a low fitness level who would like to get into running.

Fitnet

Ideal for busy individuals, Fitnet customises workouts by factoring in how much time you have to dedicate to a session. Certified trainers and industry professionals provide live coaching sessions via the app and a bank of over 200 different types of video workouts from yoga to strength and cardio at numerous intensity levels are available to try. The app even has a section devoted to five and seven minute workouts!

Sworkit 

Sworkit provides a range of different workouts encompassing strength, cardio, Pilates and yoga that target specific muscle groups and body parts. The video workouts feature comprehensive step-by-step demonstrations of each individual exercise.

Strava

Strava tracks running and cycling based workouts through GPS and analyses and collates the data gathered enabling users to compare their times and progress against other Strava users across the globe. The app also contains a goal setting function and will monitor and track your progress towards the goal.

MyFitnessPal

This app monitors what and how much you eat and provides a log of how many calories you burn throughout the day. It’s extensive food and drink database makes it easy to calculate calories and ascertain the nutritional value of what you are consuming. If you constantly carry your phone with you, MyFitnessPal can also be used to count your steps each day.
