The most famous nose in the fragrance world, French perfumer Jacques Cavallier talks to MOJEH about his 20-year friendship with Bvlgari and how he captures the essence of Italy in a bottle with Allegra, his latest creation for the House
If you ask a million people how their favourite fragrance makes them feel, you’ll get a million different answers. This ability to enable its wearer to embrace different moods is the beauty of perfume, and the inspiration behind Bvlgari’s most colourful collection yet – Allegra. “I believe that every woman should have the choice to wear a different perfume based on her mood, which is exactly why we have created this magnifying collection,” Jacques Cavallier tells MOJEH. “Be it joy, sensuality or softness, you can create it with your favourite scent.”
Comprising five fragrances – Dolce Estasi, Fantasia Veneta, Fiori d’Amore, Riva Solare and Rock’n’Rome – Allegra is Cavallier’s latest baby, and a result of the incredible expertise he has honed during his 20-plus years at the house, where he says “the sky is the limit.” Created for layering and combining, something Jacques believes to be an “art form in the Middle East,” the collection also comes with a set of magnifying essences which you can mix and match with the fragrances to create a unique scent. Think bergamot, patchouli and rose. As always, Italian notes play a huge part – “I love the Italian way of life, full of joy, optimism, elegance and sophistication,” adds the perfumer – and are designed to spark both joy and creativity within the wearer.
And while Allegra is most certainly an exciting milestone for the House, it comes from a man who admits he is always imagining his next scent. “What has been done is important, of course, but what is most important is what we are creating for tomorrow,” he says. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve next. Available at Sephora Middle East.
