From the Brazilian Blowout to nighttime, natural haircare. MOJEH talks to celebrity hairstylist, Marco de Biaggi about the perfect shade of blonde and Brazil’s holistic hair secrets

What are the main hair trends happening among Brazilian women at the moment?

In previous years Brazilian women chemically straightened their hair with the infamous Brazilian Blowout, then a trend emerged for a softer, ‘surf style’ that was wavy rather than curly with multi-tonal highlights. In recent years there has been a backlash against the keratin, straightened look, which has also been reflected globally. Brazilian women tend to work with their natural texture now, whether that be curly, wavy or straight.

How about colour trends?

In a country full of brunettes, blonde hair colour hair helps the Brazilian woman to stand out against the crowd. Most women request a light blonde shade like Gisele.

And how do you achieve this colour without it looking too artificial?

For a more natural, ‘beachy’ effect, I blend two different shades of blonde. This achieves a more lived-in, sun-kissed look.

How do Brazilian women keep their hair in great condition?

They use coconut oil for almost everything when it comes to beauty, from haircare to body oil. When they go to sleep at night, Brazilian women take a few drops of coconut oil and rub it into the ends of the hair. When they wake up the hair feels softer and is deeply conditioned.
