Watch the video: How to make a Pipe Braid for the holiday season

There's no better hairstyle for the upcoming festive atmosphere than the Pipe Braid. This hairstyle would be perfect for a small celebration with your coworkers or to go wherever you want with your friends.

Danish hairstylist, Oribe Hair Care education ambassador, and inventor of the Pipe Braid, Nikki Welsh, gave this stylish braid its name. This new style of braid is shaped like a pipe and starts at the top of the head and goes all the way to the back of the neck. Unlike the popular French braid, in which you stack strands of hair on top of each other, the Pipe Braid relies on the idea of knotting the hair into one main strand.

Although the braid was first popularized earlier this year thanks to Victoria's Secret model Romy Streig who rocked it at Coachella and was styled by celebrity hairstylist Ruslan Nureyev, we think it's still a great way to complete your look for the upcoming holidays. You can replicate Rumi Strigid's perfectly festive braid with this chic pink ribbon, but if you want a more festive look, you can swap the pink ribbon for glitter or glitter beads.

In the video below, hairstylist Nikki Welch demonstrates how she creates this braid, starting by taking a section of hair from the front of the head, brushing it out, and then working her way down the head, knotting more strands into this main section one by one. Depending on the look you're going for, you can always choose between a perfectly tied braid for a sleek, polished look or a loose braid for a more playful and practical look.
