Cartier And Chalamet Strike Again At The Dune Premiere in London

On a brisk Thursday evening, the film industry’s hottest starlets converged on the prestigious Dune Part Two premiere in London.

Among them, American actor Timothée Chalamet graced the red carpet, marking yet another momentous occasion in his  career in partnership with Cartier. Alongside him, the fashion’s favourite actress, Zendaya, broke the internet wearing a Cyborg suit, a masterpiece by Thierry Mugler created for the 1995 Fall Haute Couture collection.

Chalamet, known for his sartorial prowess, made a statement too; echoing the unforgettable impact of his appearance at the Wonka premiere, he once again joined forces with Cartier to unveil a new custom-made piece. This necklace, ideated by Chalamet and Cartier’s ateliers, features an array of over 900 coloured stones. Inspired by the dunes, its design incorporates a homage to the distinctive blue of the Fremen eyes, a central motif in the film’s visual lexicon.

The necklace’s design is ingeniously modular, allowing for a transformative experience. With a simple rotation, the wearer reveals an alternate palette of stones, offering a kaleidoscope of desert hues interspersed with diamonds that mimic the desert’s untamed terrain.

Chalamet reflected on the creative process, noting that he and Marie-Laure sought to capture the stark beauty and essence of Dune within the quintessential elegance of Cartier.

Meanwhile, Marie-Laure Cérède, Cartier’s Creative Director of Jewellery and Watchmaking, remarked on the piece’s significance, stating how it brings contrasting elements together.

While the necklace garnered admiration, Zendaya’s Mugler Cyborg Suit was the highlight of the evening, with its bold silhouettes and strategically placed sheer panels. The ensemble exuded an unmatched futuristic allure on the red carpet; only she could pull off such a symbolic look from the iconic French designer.

The premiere also saw other notable figures such as Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy, who opted for enigmatic attire, and Austin Butler, who appeared to support his supermodel partner Kaia Gerber, each contributing to the evening’s sartorial splendour.

The film was postponed due to industry strikes in earlier months, which only heightened the enthusiasm surrounding the premiere. Denis Villeneuve, the director, expressed his delight at the film’s debut, a sentiment echoed by Chalamet, who candidly shared his hopes for a sequel.

This event celebrated the continuation of a cinematic saga and underscored the intricate relationship between fashion and film. Timothée Chalamet, once again, showcased his flair for combining unique style with fashion-forward elegance.
